150 ans du livre Descent of Man de Darwin, colloque dédié à Jean Gayon

Colloque organisé par l'EPHE (PSL), l'IHPST (CNRS, Paris-1 Panthéon Sorbonne), et l'ANR-DFG, sous la direction de Michel Veuille, directeur d’études à l'EPHE, Philippe Huneman, directeur de recherche au CNRS, Victor Petit, enseignant-chercheur à l'Université technologique de Troyes, et Elisabeth Gayon, retraitée, avec le soutien de l'IEA de Paris.

Présentation

Il y a cent-cinquante ans, Darwin écrivait son livre célèbre La Descendance de l’homme et la sélection en rapport avec le sexe (1871), et sa suite L’expression des émotions chez l’homme et les animaux (1872). Il y montrait que l’homme, s’il ne “descend” pas du singe, partage avec les autres primates un ancêtre commun. Il examinait toutes les conséquences de cette thèse pour l’éthique, l’origine de la coopération, le rôle des choix sexuels. Des philosophes, historiens et biologistes mettront en lumière l’originalité passée et actuelle de cet ouvrage, qui reste une référence en sciences humaines et en biologie évolutive.
