THEME
Challenge in HSS
Initiation and development of research on global health/Sustainability/European studies in the humanities and social sciences
This research chair is focused on the humanities and social sciences (HSS) with a strong interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral dimension. It aims to take up the challenge of bringing together researchers from different disciplines at the Paris 1 University with a view to developing research on the identified themes. Many teacher-researchers and/or researchers undertake work, publications and seminars on the theme of health, health safety, environmental safety, environmental issues and European questions, without necessarily taking into account their interdisciplinary dimension.
In addition to building up a network of researchers, the work carried out under this Chair should lead to the development of thinking on these issues, both globally and by sector, through conferences, seminars, symposia, publications and other deliverables such as a website or blog, MOOCs, etc.
The researcher will also work closely with members of Paris1 University who are involved in the various Self Steering Committees of the UNA EUROPA alliance (European studies, Sustainability, One Health), as well as with the activities of the new L3E laboratory (Europe, Space, Environnement). Prospects could include all research teams at Paris1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.
The main objective of the P1PS/IAS Chair is to provide new knowledge in the areas of HSS, which could also be useful to society. It could promote for this purpose a participatory approach with social actors (citizens, public institutions, economic actors, NGOs) because of the relevance of their knowledge - whether traditional, hybrid or technical -. The Chair should therefore also be an opportunity to reflect on the impacts of Global Health in HSS on the implementation of public policies in France or in Europe.
The Chair offers international researchers in HSS a 5- or 10-month research grant at the Paris Institute for Advanced Study (https://www.paris-iea.fr/fr), in order to develop innovative research linked to the Paris1 Pantheon Sorbonne laboratories and more generally with the scientific and economic fabric of the Paris region, one of the densest in Europe. The stay at the Paris IAS guarantees the creation of scientific collaborations of excellence and academic visibility of the results obtained.
SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITIES
During the stay, the holder of the Chair is expected to give or organize seminars or lectures as well as to organize an international interdisciplinary conference in Paris on themes related to the research project, in collaboration with the research teams at Paris1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University.
S/he will also have the possibility to convene smaller meetings and invite researchers for short stays at the Paris IAS to contribute to the research project, give lectures, etc. In addition, s/he will benefit from the help of the institute to set up innovative mechanisms to enable citizens to participate in research and to disseminate the results.
At the end of the fellowship, the holder of the Chair must write at least one research report which will be made public.
