Wilde News Abroad: International Journalism and Oscar Wilde's London Trials
Colette Colligan will present her research project at the internal seminar on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 from 10am to 1pm.
The three “gross indecency” trials of the Anglo-Irish writer Oscar Wilde in 1895 have had historical significance and meaning in more than one country and have been repeatedly remembered and reenacted over generations -- making them a global iconic media event. But how did they become a global media event?
The presentatin will be discussed by Will Slauter, lecturer at the University of Paris Diderot, member of the Laboratoire de Recherche sur les Cultures Anglophones (CNRS - Paris Diderot).
