Presentation
German Philosopher Hans Blumenberg’s works on modernity (1920-1996) has generated a broad interest recently in the English language academic world, as the publication of History, Metaphors and Fables: A Hans Blumenberg Reader (Cornell University Press, 2020) shows. Harvard Law School Professor Roberto Unger is a leader of Critical Legal Studies Movement in the United States, but also returned two times to his native Brazil to serve as President Lula’s Minister for Strategic Affairs. These two persons’ theories of modernity are worth a comparative study if only because Richard Rorty had reviewed both of their works.
