Transitional justice is a key issue in many societies grappling with the aftermath of conflict or repressive regimes. Through a global overview of recent experiences, this conference will explore contemporary challenges related to truth, justice, reparations, and guarantees of non-repetition. Among these challenges, enforced disappearances remain a critical issue, particularly in Syria, where tens of thousands of people are still missing. Bernard Duhaime will provide insight into current dynamics, progress, and persistent obstacles, drawing on the Syrian case as well as other contexts where the pursuit of justice and reconciliation remains a major challenge.
