Presentation

Based on fieldwork in a municipality in southern Mexico, and focusing on the formation of armed self-defense groups, one of Pierre Gaussens' main research findings concerns the criminalization of politics, in which the use of violence is at the heart of local struggles for territorial control. The aim is to explore the complex links between the worlds of crime and politics, in order to gain a better understanding of the issues surrounding armed violence in Mexico.
