Accommodation at the Paris IAS
Maison Suger
Host conditions at Maison Suger:
The Paris IAS fellows may be housed at Maison Suger, an international centre for welcoming and fostering cooperation among high-level international researchers. Maison Suger is managed by Fondation Maison des Sciences de l’Homme, and located at the heart of the Latin Quarter.
- Maison Suger has around ten studio apartments (35-55 square metres) for the Paris IAS fellows.
- The facilities at Maison Suger meet the requirements for researchers’ individual work and for group work.
- Residents must comply with Maison Suger’s general house rules.
- Residents that wish to host temporary overnight guests must obtain prior approval from the management of Maison Suger, and must defray any additional costs.
- Fellows are required to live in the housing provided by the Paris IAS for the majority of their stay.
- Barring special contractual clauses, housing expenses will be covered by the Paris IAS.
Les Récollets
Host conditions at Les Récollets:
Les Récollets is an apartment complex and an international centre for science and culture. It is located in Paris’s tenth arrondissement, near Gare de l’Est and districts undergoing urban renewal and development.
- The apartments and apartment-studios at Les Récollets are equipped with hotel-style amenities.
- As part of a “sponsorship” agreement with Les Récollets, the Paris IAS has two apartments at its disposal each year (40 sq. metres and 75 sq. metres, respectively).
- Residents must respect the general house rules as defined in their lease.
- Fellows are required to live in the housing provided by the Paris IAS for the majority of their stay.
- Barring special contractual clauses, housing expenses will be covered by the Paris IAS.
Other accommodation
Family accommodation is not available at Maison Suger or Les Récollets. Therefore, guest researchers that wish to bring their children with them will have to make their own arrangements and look into private rentals.
Host conditions for private accommodation:
- In order to help fellows find accommodation, the Paris IAS can provide a list of contacts.
- Likewise, schooling arrangements for children must be made by the family, a year before the stay at the Paris IAS.
- In the case of private accommodation, the Paris IAS will provide fellows with a housing stipend equivalent to the rents paid for accommodation at Maison Suger or Les Récollets.
